Day 3: Atlanta GA to Fort Lauderdale FL

Today we drove from from 8:30 in the morning till 12:30 at night. We made it all the way through Georgia, from where we slept in Atlanta, into Florida. It was our privilege to stop in Gainesville, Florida, where we reunited with my good friend Sarah.

She showed us around her gorgeous house that she shares with her roommate, who is a landscaper. After seeing Sarah's beautiful front and back yard, I'm jealous! The way her yard is landscaped is rather different from classic landscaping. It's a magnificent jungle! There were all sorts of fascinating plants, both planted and potted, , including a papaya tree, topped off by a sleeping garden gnome.

We went to Flaco's Cuban Bakery for a delicious lunch. Patrick, Hannah, and I all woofed down Cuban sandwiches, while Lizz had the Jill. Which she said was "like thanksgiving went on a road trip."

After we left Sarah's, we headed to the Dove World Outreach Center to see what all the fuss was about. Thanks to the media, this event has attracted the attention of the globe. Reverend Terry Jones threatened to burn a Qu'ran on the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. We were there the day before he was supposed to burn it and the church had mass amounts of media coverage. We made a little story of our own.

When we tried to get close to the church a woman with a gun shooed us away. How pious.

Sara's zigzagging through back roads to avoid tolls, before we gave up and took the turnpike. It took us the rest of the day to get to Fort Lauderdale, where we were greeted by Sara and introduced to her amazing house!

We crashed shortly after.
